Dave: Hey this is Dave Wilson, it is 6:09 and we are joined here in the
studio by Jay Drake, Dave Steel, Tracy Hines and Bobby East. Joining us on the phone is
John Andretti (theme music plays and intro) This week you will be driving the #90 AOL
Chevy, is that right?
John: That is right.
Dave: And what was the charity that we missed last week?
John: It is special operation warrior foundation.
Dave: Very nice.
John: And it is for all the military people who go in and are killed either in training or
a mission. It guarantees their children a college education.
Dave: So you will be flying those colors, and people can donate to that this weekend up in
Talledega.
John: Absolutely!
Dave: Now, John I know Indy Raceway Park was one of your favorite tracks. They did not
have this when you ran midgets, but the Mopar Twin 25s are coming up this weekend and we
have Dave Steel, Bobby East, Tracy Hines and Jay Drake. Dave Steel won the money last
year, didnt you Dave?
Dave S. : That is right, but it is probably equal to the start up money that Andretti
gets. (laughing)
John: Hey come on now, I get a hard enough time from Matt!
Dave: Thats true, now what was the largest purse you won running midgets John?
John: Oh uh, I dont know. It was a pretty big pay day. Actually I was running
Bellville and broke, that would have been my biggest, so I can only say what would have
been. Maybe 1, 600 or something like that. Wait I won a 50 lapper for 2,500.
Dave: There you go and that is probably chunk change to you guys right? Jay you make that
kind of money all the time right?
Jay: No, not all the time. 2,500 is a pretty good payday for me here lately. (laughing)
Dave: Yea, we all have our ups and our downs. I was at California and did not get to watch
Dover, but what happened there in the 1 Monte Carlo?
John: It was a horrible weekend. I dont know what the thing was, but in the race we
even raised the track bar 9 rounds to take some bite out of it. We changed the tire
pressures around, we put spring rubbers in and out. It did not go any different, which was
a little frustrating for everyone. Dover is over thank God!
Dave: You had a bad weekend too Jay, didnt you over there at the Mopar Million, was
it that bad?
Jay: I dont remember (laughing)
Dave: Youve shut it out of your mind already?
Jay: Exactly.
John: I understand. I have to take some lessons here! I am still dragging.
Dave: This weekend though you will be running the #90 a Childress car at Talledega, are
you looking forward to that?
John: Are you kidding me? Yea what a great opportunity for me to be looking at
. I
did the deal with Richard Childress before the 1 car came along. And here I am sitting
with the two best restrictor plate programs and I get to drive for them. It has been all
sitting in front of me and it has been really good. I just went in and saw the #90 AOL car
and it is all ready. They pulled the motor, because they had a better one. That is what it
is all about in restrictor plate racing, the car and the horse power. Childress has been
on two out of the three restrictor plate poles so we are looking for a good weekend.
Dave: We will be rooting for you. Do you guys have any thoughts or questions for John?
John: I am coming back from the grocery store with the kids.
Dave: Yea he is driving around with the kids.
John: I got some Coca-Cola because Jarrett has an event at his school. I am playing Mr.
Mom, Nancy is there in Indianapolis with her sister still. Anyway, those poor kids.
Dave: Yea, whats for dinner?
John: Umm we are going to have fillet.
Dave: Fillet? Who is cooking that?
John: Me. It has to be on the grill or I am not cooking it. Well grill or microwave, it
has to be one or the other.
Dave: Yea, well good luck this weekend and we will talk to you next Tuesday buddy.
John: Good luck to all you guys too, I am jealous and I think you guys are going to have a
fun time. I will enjoy watching it.
Dave: Thanks John.
John: Thank You.
