Dave: Hey John.
John: Hey!
Dave: Good afternoon to you sir.
John: Yea, we are lucky that wasnt Ward or you wouldnt have been able to
understand what he said.
Dave: Did you go to Bristol?
John: No I didnt. I can get the full feel of all the crashing at home, then I get
the replays and the fights.
Dave: I tell you 20 yellow lights, that had to get tedious.
John: There wasnt much racing. There were a quick couple laps between all the
cautions. It is what happens, if you get a long green flag going. That happens pretty
rarely at Bristol, but you usually at least get one. They never got one the night before.
I thought when the Busch race has a lot of accidents the Cup race doesnt and usually
just the opposite. So, I figured we would have a pretty good Cup race. It was unfortunate,
it is so tight. It takes just one guy to check up a little bit for another guy, and he
hits them and off you go.
Dave: You know what gets me? I am tired of watching guys just bump people out of the way
to get past them. To me that is
.
Joe: Chicken crap!
John: Well, I grew up around open wheel racing and in open wheel even if you have no
respect for the guy, you have respect for yourself. So you do not touch them because you
can hurt yourself, not so much physically, but you will take yourself out of the race too.
In stock cars, like I told some of them, if it is intentional it is bad. Close racing is
close racing. If you are rubbing on some guy because you are close and going 15 or 16
second laps around a half race track in a 3500 pound race car. Guys are going to make
mistakes and run into each other, but when you catch someone and bump them out of the way
to pass them, that is obviously not the way to go. Even Harvick there when he let Kurt
Busch go, there was no reason for Kevin to be there. He slid up and let Kurt go by because
he was quicker than him that time. It is better to settle in and go back at it. It did
look like Kurts car did get better, which I think Kevin was counting on a long run
that never came.
Dave: Is there any news you can give us about prospects for the rest of the year? Are you
still waiting around for a phone call or is stuff solidifying?
John: Actually there has been a lot going on in the last couple of days. I cannot say
anything, but there is nothing for Darlington. But things are coming around quickly for
doing some more stuff this year. Well see what that leads into for next year.
Dave: Very Nice, cool.
Joe: Come on John!
John: That could actually
I can hear the plane warming its engine. Its
fired and warmed up!
Matt: You have to do more than get a job! You are going to have to win something
.
John: Let me tell you something
Joe: The air show is in town the 13 and 14th of September, can we plan on pushing Matt out
by then?
John: Let me see, how far away is that?
Joe: A little bit over two weeks.
John: Oh, that is probably what only one race in there? Wait that is two races.
Joe: Depending on the team.
John: Well 3 races between now and then but I am not going to do Darlington. I dont
know, I thought Indy was going to be a close call
..
Matt: I was sweating that one for five minutes.
John: Yea, but then Tony Raines your brother
.
Dave: Tony Raines Hibblin
John: I actually like Tony, so I dont mean to cuss him.
Dave: Yea Really.
John: Things are coming along and I am looking forward to it. Jarrett got to play 3 soccer
games in Atlanta and his team got to the Championship game and unfortunately they got beat
in that game. But, they did a great job, the whole team. We wore them out at Andretti
Speed Lab there in Atlanta too, for one night. It probably did not help their cause out
much, but they had a great time there. It was a lot of fun, being a dad for the weekend.
Dave: Glad to hear it. Thanks for joining us a little earlier than normal and we will look
for an announcement about a week from today.
John: If I can say something sooner I will call you.
Dave: Thanks John.
John: Thank you!
THE END
