Leading in they are trying to reach John, because he is not picking up his cell phone.
John finally calls back and this is where we begin.
Matt: Do you want to talk to him or not? If you want to insult me I can just put him on
hold and you can just insult me for the next five minutes and then we can move on. If you
want to talk to him he is standing by.
John: Put me on hold, because I want to hear them insult you. (laughing)
Matt: You do not get to vote!
Dave: Your boy when he is talking to you is like oh hi John and is really nice and
friendly. The minute you are not on the phone (grumbles).
Matt: Does that sound like me John?
John: I would not expect anything different. I know Matt too well now.
Dave: He is a weasel with a capital W. (laughing) How are you doing buddy?
John: Not doing too bad. I told Gary Putnam my crew chief that we would definitely loose a
car, because it is the Winston. And we did, the only problem is we lost it 20 minutes into
the first practice when we broke an engine and I spun in the oil. Engines blow in a lot of
different ways and this one grenaded. It was kind of one of those deals that it does not
happen very often, especially with Mike Edgy racing engines, they do such a great job. It
was kind of a freak deal, so we lost the car on that deal. That was a really good car and
it was disappointing because it was a new car we were trying.
Dave: Man oh man, Are you OK?
John: Oh yea, I am too small to get hurt (laughing in the background).
Dave: So the big race, the world 600 is Sunday.
John: The Coca-Cola 600.
Dave: That is right I forgot. Of course the Indy 500 is then too, so you will probably
watch the race I guess as you are getting ready for the Coca-Cola 600.
John: Yea, we will be watching the Coca-Cola 500 (laughing) or the Cheerios 500. Yes and
no, I watch it but I have to go to the drivers meeting since I am not there. I do not get
to watch all of it, but we will be watching it to see Michaels progress. Obviously I
am wishing him the very best and expecting the very best, because no one else deserves to
win that race like he does, that hasnt won it. Hopefully the bad luck will stay away
this time and he can end his career as a driver in the winners circle, especially as
a driver.
Dave: What you need to do John, is to turn down the volume on the TV and find your
Indianapolis Motor Speedway radio network affiliate in Charlotte.
John: Oh yea, that is what we plan on doing.
Dave: Very nice.
Joe: And who is in the booth next to Mike King?
Dave: Well it will be Mike King, Davey Hamilton, Me, Donald Davidson, and Chris Economaki.
All in the booth, it is going to be crowded.
John: Matt is not going to be there right?
Dave: Nope.
John: Absolutely, I plan on it (laughing). I did not want to miss any coverage with Matt
producing it.
Dave: Na, he wont be doing anything, but sitting around
sleeping, eating hot
dogs in his back yard.
Matt: The race starts first thing in the morning, I might catch the last half of it.
John: It starts at noon Est. (laughing)
Matt: Exactly.
John: Sun comes up in the middle of the day for you, right Matt?
Matt: Yea, I will be hitting the snooze button during the race.
Dave: Kind of like when you are driving.
Matt: Hey! Not at all like that.
Dave: Well, next year we will keep our fingers crossed that you are part of the double.
John: I would love to be a part of it and obviously we are hoping for a lot of things. It
is a year away, but I am really disappointed because it is Michaels last year there
and it would have been great to be there. Not only running the race with him, but also
spending the whole month of May with him. We have not seen a lot of each other since I
have gone to NASCAR and he stayed put. So, It would have been fun, but who knows maybe we
will get it all together and that that will happen.
Dave: That will be cool. Good luck this weekend in the Coca-Cola 600 on race day and we
will talk to you again next Tuesday.
John: Sounds good.
Dave: Thank you very much.
John: Thank you.
THE END
