Dave: Hey John!
John: Hey Dave!
Dave: Can you hear the Cars? (note they are broadcasting live from IMS)
John: Yea, your trying to make me
..
(Matt Laughing)
Dave: We are here doing the show here from the garage area as always, so we really dont
have a choice. I am afraid I am going to have to make you home sick.
John: Yea, I am.
Dave: I had a guy come by a few moments ago, did you grow up on Shirley Drive?
John: Yes.
Dave: He said he grew up watching you run go-karts up and down the street. (laughing)
John: Ask him if he called the police on us, because we are still trying to figure out
called them on us.
Dave: When I see him I will find out. Good news for your cousin Michael, fifth quick today
at over 229 mph, actually 230. 416 his best speed.
John: That is great. Michael really excels in the race though, no matter where he
qualifies. So, no matter where he qualifies I predict that
. This is an easy
prediction, I mean he is definitely going to be at the front and I think this will be
definitely the year he will have a great shot to take it home. What better team to take it
with than your own.
Dave: No kidding. The rookie on that team
. I mean everyone on that team is talking
about Michael with good reason, then everyone was talking about Dario who now cannot be
there. Now Robby is in the car and doing a fine job, but the other team mate, Dan Wheldon
he goes a 231.108 today. He is quickest so far.
John: (laughs) Well like I said, Michaels real forte is the race. He really never
concerns himself too much with out right speed, he just likes to be real consistent, so I
think that if you go to qualifying past history, his qualifying runs are always real
consistent speed wise. It use to be when he first got there he was always at the top of
the chart and he had good races, but he got so much stronger at the race. And I think that
is because he takes the month of May and focuses on the race like Al Jr.
Dave: That is true Jr. was only on the pole once in 94 when Penske had that cheater motor
(laughing). But anyway, that was my own opinion. They did a fabulous job, I mean Jr. did a
great job, but that is true he is a much better racer than he is qualifier. There has been
a lot of shake ups going on in nascar, I assume you have heard about Jeff Green and Steve
Park and all that.
John: I only heard about Jeff, what happened to Steve?
Dave: He got fired. And then DEI turns around and hires Jeff Green for the interim, so you
have that going on in the soap opera Winston Cup Tour.
John: That is a quick change.
Dave: I dont know if you saw in the race Saturday night, but Harvick turned Green
around. Then Jeff came in and got in the face of Harvicks crew chief, so Richard had
to get in and separate them. Then he went straight on TV and said I guess we are team
mates guess not.
John: I tell you what, you are emotional anytime you to a short track or anything and if a
guy turns you. You do not expect it to be your team mate. So, I think that is always
tougher to take, because if you are going to race anyone clean it is going to be the guy
you are working with. (laughs) It is not always intentional either. Every now and then you
slide into the corner and someone has to check up or something happens and the guy behind
you bumps you. I mean it is short track racing, you are going so fast in a short period of
time, that anything can happen. And I do want to say our thoughts and prayers are
certainly with the Nadeau family, Jerry, and their whole family. He will obvious have a
road to recovery and I hope it is a short one.
Dave: Yea, boy what a deal. It is one of those racing things. Well Johnny take care. Enjoy
your night with your family. We all wish you were here, but 2004 right buddy? You will be
here.
John: Those damn
.. darn things do not sound like they have any motors in them they
are all just whining.
Dave: There is a lot of horse power there boy. (laughing) Take care buddy.
John: Thanks.
