Benvenuto!
As we commemmorate our 11th year of
following John's racing career, we look forward to a good
2008. John's not a "young gun" anymore, but our
wily veteran continues to find ways to make it into
races, not only in NASCAR but other series as well. Check
back often for race recaps, maybe some news and read
personal stories form the thousands of John's fans about
why they follow him and how he has made an impact in
their lives.
The best part of this site has always been
the message board. You will not find better, quicker, or
more inside information than you will there. NASCAR and
ARCA officials, team members, sponsors, John's family
members and a whole slew of "inside" people are
regular posters. We also have plenty of wise old guys and
gals that have been around and following the sport since
its inception. And apparently, some or all of them have
attended every NASCAR race since Daytona 1959.....or at
least that's what they'll tell you. So, register (it's
quick and painless) and join in the sometimes smart,
sometimes thoughtful and sometimes downright inane
conversations. Just remember to keep it clean and show
everyone the same respect that you expect to be shown.

- 2008 John's day in the Front Row
Motorsports Makoto Chevrolet didn't come without
problems. After rushing up through the field in
the early portions, John encountered handling
issues that sent him to the back. Eventually, a
broken control arm and some slight problems with
the inexperienced team took him out of
contention. John made it back out on the track
and soldiered to a 40th place finish. We were all
hoping for better, but you really have to step
back and look at the accomplishment these guys
made with what they had. Making it into the race
was a huge deal and was reflected as such in the
media. It was great seeing John get the kudo's
he's deserved.

| Next up is California. Honestly,
it's going to be tough for these guys to make
these races....but I guess we're all pretty used
to uncertainty when it comes to John the last few
years. There's been some speculation as to just
what John's plans are this year. FRM has
indicated to me this is a full year deal, but we
also know John is at a point where his kids are
growing up and he doesn't want to miss out on
being with them. The song Cat's in the Cradle
comes to mind, huh? It's tough, I know. When I
worked for NASCAR I flew out of Indy on
Wednesday's and flew home on Mondays. I had one
day a week to spend with my family and friends.
Living the dream, sure, but at what cost? But,
whatever John decides to do; NASCAR, IRL or
simply scoring his sons soccer games, I'm sure we
can still have some lively discussions on the
message board!
